2008 Booklist

  1. Free Food for Millionaires ~ Min Jin Lee ~ This was good. I really enjoyed it and can see why people raved about it. And, for a first novel…amazing. Authors Blog
  2. A Thousand Splendid Suns ~ Khaled Hosseini ~ I am probably the only person who has not read the Kite Runner. It is always fascinating to read about another culture esp. one as tortured as Afghanistan. I loved the women in the this book and I stand in awe of their courage. Those of blessed to live in America have no idea how lucky we are. Authors Blog
  3. Crazy School ~ Cornelia Read ~ Good. I did not guess who did it until I was close to the end.
  4. The Risk of Infidelity Index ~ Christopher G. Moore ~ My first time w. this author. This is a gritty detective novel set in Thailand. Which seems pretty lawless in this book. His blog.
  5. The Devils Labyrinth ~ John Saul ~ I have not read any Saul novels in a long time. This was pretty good. I really wanted a little more backstory in some places.
  6. The Abstinence Teacher ~ Tom Perrotta ~ An interesting look at abstinence, the Christian right and the rest of us. Did not enjoy the ending.
  7. Dark Aura ~ Diana O’Hehir ~ Yet, another first time author for me. What caught my attention was that it was kind of about indigo kids. I will pick up anything new agey. I really liked the female detective in this book.
