Thursday Thirteen: 57 Post Storm Edition

Wednesday, April 18th 2007

1. Our cable just came up. I am connected to the world. Dancing a jig here.

2. I intend to take another extremely hot shower tonight.

3. I missed my coffee in the morning.

4. I have an empty fridge. I cringe at how much it is going to cost to fill it back up.

5. Shore Road and Old Ocean House Road are closed.

6. A lot of people are still without power. This seems to be as bad as the giant ice storm we had around 10 years ago. Maybe, it was longer than that. Time flies, ya know

7. I would rather be in Florida or someplace warm and sunny.

8. It rained most of the day today.

9. I have several projects up my sleeve. I will let you in on them soon.
10. What I did not miss was the TV.

11. I read several books. But, I will be writing a post about Kabul Beauty School. A very good book, that all women should read. You will be astonished how women are treated in other parts of the world.

12. I get to cook dinner tonight. I am sick of eating out.

13. Not a very exciting thirteen this week. I am just grateful to have all my utilities back on. And, I am all too aware how unprepared we are in case of a major disaster……

14. Finally, Bestest Friend in the Universe has started her own blog. Please go visit and send her some comment love at A Peaceful Place.

The purpose of Thursday Thirteen is to meet new friends and spread comment love. Go over to all things Thirteen to see who is playing.

I’m glad you “get” to cook dinner — I wish I felt that way about cooking! What a relief to get power back on though!

My TT is also posted

Can’t wait to read your review on #11. I’ve always found in amazing how much we take for granted in North America - the lives of our sisters in other countries are not nearly as easy.

We lost power for 3 hours today. The wind was positively wicked! Have you ever played boggle? I have one posted.

Ah - Maine, that ginormous storm. I have an aunt who lives in Portland who stocked up on essentials, planning to be without power for a few days.

I feel spoiled, down here with temperatures in the high 60s, some breezes with pretentions, and the occasional bit of cloud cover.

sheesh, did you lose the power from the new storm or is this still from the storm before it?

Oh my goodness, I watched all the reports on this storm and flooding but I didn’t know I knew anyone involved…oh you pooor thiings how frigtening!!!

I am glad you are getting back to power and a home cooked meal really will be special won’t it? It’s funny how eating out gets tiresome…seems glamorous at first, then oh no not again…I think home cooked is better for our digestion too etc etc.

Much luck the coming days…

here is my TT list even though it sounds like you might be overloaded…:

Welcome back to the world. I get super antsy without my internet, even if I have TV and other amenities.

Although I don’t know you, it is nice to know you had no issues as a result of the storm.

Back to modern conveniences! How nice. I’ve wanted to read Kabul Beauty School. I read a book called My Forbidden Face a few years back. It was also very good.

Glad to hear your electricity is back up. Living without coffee makes me shudder. I’m a three to four cup-a-day girl. Let’s hope no more storms head your way for a while.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I’m glad the storm has passed and you survived in one piece! The flooding was terrible in a lot of places. No coffee? Sacrilege! Happy TT.

I’ve been without power for snowstorms, ice storms and hurricanes in the past 15 years or so and it’s always so exciting when it comes back on!

Hate to rub it in….but yes, it has been lovely in Florida!

I’m glad you’ve got your Internet connection back, Nancy–and even more so about the power. It’s difficult to go for long without electricity no matter how romantic it seems in books. Especially in Maine!

Have you received that camera you ordered yet??

Ugh - the power going out is the worst. It really makes you appreciate it - not that I don’t, but it’s NO fun. Especially with kids!! Glad you’re back to normal.
