We went to a Superbowl party last night. We usually stay home and really don’t care that much about the game. Not big sports fanatics in my house. The last time we watched the game was the Janet/Justin craziness.
I made twelve pounds of chicken wings and off we went. It was fun but LOUD! I drank some excellant wine, Conumdrum, and had some good food.
When the game started there were 16 teenagers and 6 adults. They did not stay long. I thought all along that the Colts were going to win and they did. Even though the Bears started things off w. some excitment.
My favorite part was Prince.
My husband and kids were not so excited to see him. I was if he did Purple Rain stuff and he did and it was AWESOME! Purple Rain came out the year I graduated high school. So, saying that Prince and Purple Rain brings back memories is an understatement. I thought he was amazing. People tend to forget what an amazing musician he is. My daughter thought I was crazy, I knew all words and was wishing I could dance. And, when he did Purple Rain, I was in heaven. Too me, there is nothing better than an artist standing there doing his thing without a lot of frills. And, other than his dancers that was pretty much what he did. Although, wasn’t it totally cool when they put that sheet/tarp thing up and you saw his shadow
The worst part. Everyone was talking and they would not shut up. I cannot stand to have people talk when I watch TV. I really wanted to be able to hear Prince play. And, because his work is so seamless you almost missed it when he did Jimi Hendrix. ( wasn’t that awesome )
I did get a chuckle out of the Snickers/Brokeback Moutain commercial.
What about you Did you watch the game Did you like it Did your team win Or, did you watch Monk or The Closer

I went to bed. I hate football. LOL
I could tell we won when grown men were screeming outside in my neighborhood.
we wanted the Colts to lose (hey, they beat our Pats!)… we flipped around, some game some dumb movie (Old School, Will Ferrel is a hoot!)back to some game. at one point (after Prince, love him!) i took a bath and finished a book.
I love the commercials, but I didn’t watch the game. I recorded it and will probably edit the game out to keep the ads.
The commercials weren’t very good this year, Nancy. Several of them started off okay but then didn’t end well. The Snickers one was in that group in my mind. The “kiss” was funny but the chest hair ripping was annoying.
I don’t like Prince but my girlfriend adores him. I went into the kitchen to make some pasta during the halftime show. Maybe I just don’t like midgets?
I loves me some Prince - seen him in concert three times (and yes, once was on the PR tour). He is AMAZING in a live show, isn’t he? (I confess that I was a fan before anyone knew who he was. I am just that cool. heh)
I didn’t watch it live but it was all over the youtubes so I caught it there tonight.
Football can bite me. Hee!
I didn’t see any of it. I don’t understand football, but I would have loved to see Prince! Instead, I was sick in bed. I thought I was going to die. (I didn’t)
loved seein prince perform… funny thing is, i was never a huge crazy prince fan back in the day! i can’t even remember the year purple rain came out!!! but i think he did a great job! my fave commercial was the budweiser dog…i dont remember the snickers commerical! oh and i loved the david letterman/oprah spot… that was hysterical!
I TiVod Prince so I could enjoy it again sometime. Overall the game was kind of a dud. But 12 pounds of chicken wings?
We watched it. He’s got a great voice, even though I wasn’t real thrilled about having to watch him. He must have been slightly entertaining, because my husband actually sat and watched it. I couldn’t believe he did Foo Fighters “Best of You” - that’s one of my favorite songs.
I made wings too - but not 12 lbs! I did that back in the days of working Super Bowl Sunday at my parents’ store.
Mmmm… wings.
I don’t follow football, although if our San Diego Chargers had gotten to the Super Bowl I certainly would have noticed… the stadium is right down the hill from our house!
In about 1981 or so I saw the Stones in L.A., at one of those all-day, multi-group stadium extravaganzas that used to be all the rage. One of the (many) opening acts was Prince, who at that time was pretty obscure. I remember sort of hating him (though I liked some of the later, Purple Rain-era stuff), and I wasn’t alone: members of the audience actually threw stuff at him! After that, I’m surprised he was willing to perform for the Super Bowl (another stadium, after all!)…
I thought Prince was much better than the past few years…JJackson, Mick Jagger, and Paul Mcartney. And the sexual part of his act was pretty subtle!
Prince was my favorite part too. I’m glad the Colts won but I must confess I skipped the final hour of the game to watch H.B.O. ROME!
