We have been even more busy than usual, because of the SICK FATHER IN LAW.

Last Thursday, I took him for his Cat-Scan.  Well, he did not want to go.  He had overdosed himself on his nebulizer.  I just told him we are going, let’s go.  End of story, do not pass go.  After that he was fine.  Of course, the machine was broken when we got to the office.  I just took charge and said we need to go somewhere else now.  And, off we went across town.  He can’t walk well, so I got the wheelchair. And, when he started to complain,  I told him to be quiet.  He got the luxury chair and let’s go!

The cat scan was inconclusive.  His blood work was fine.  His doctor made appointments for Monday at the hospital.  After a weekend of continually losing his breathe, I was glad they admitted him.  He will be there for the rest  of the week.

They drained his lung, Monday.  One half gallon!  Drained it again on Tues.  ANother liter, and another and another.  They finally hooked him up to a permanent drain.  So it seems at least 4 liters of fluid were taken out yesterday.  He is still draining today and it is consistent.  No wonder the guy could not breathe.  This is fluid from outside his lung and is a different infection from the fluid inside his lung.  He is very sick.

We will know more from the other tests he has had done (blood, biopsy) this afternoon.  They do know the fluid they are draining is coming back abnormal.  They sent it out for specialized testing.

He  was doing ok until today. He was nasty w. his wife and my husband got mad.  He is very ungrateful.  I am not sure if he realizes how sick he is.  And, if my daughters had not gone up a week ago, he probably would be dead.  He has no worries, everyone does everything for him.   Also, the neighbor told us that his legs kept swelling up this summer.  Who knows how long this has been going on…AARRGGHH! The only person he should be mad at is himself!

I must remember to breathe!

Sounds like an interesting fellow, Nancy. Your husband and his family must have had a bad time of it living with him all those years.

I am sorry. This kind of thing is awful to go through. At his age (I’m assuming he’s old) he’s having a hard time believing he’s not invincible like he was at one time.

uh oh. That doesn’t sound very promising. I sure hope he starts cooperating more.

Maybe he’s cranky because he knows that its all his fault

We caught my FIL like this a couple of years ago, ended up in a six-bypass surgery. Yes, six. Mine is stubborn, wouldn’t go to docs if someone wasn’t there to make him. Thank goodness your FIL has such good help from you guys, too.
