So, my plan to catch up on everything this week DID NOT WORK! I was incredibly busy. But, what took most of my attention was a new book I got from the library. It is amazingly good.

If you liked the DaVinci Code, you will love this book. It blew my mind and it is a whole new perspective. I am still in a “OMG this is amazing!” state. It is written so much better than Dan Brown’s book. The story of Mary Magdalene is fascinating. Why the powers that be were so threatned by her position as Jesus’s wife is so interesting. One wonder’s how our politics, our religion, our way of thinking would be different if those in power had accepted the fact the Jesus was married and Mary was the one he trusted the most. He chose her to carry on his legacy. What if they had children and there is, now, an extended bloodline from Mary and Jesus It is fascinating to contemplate.
I loved this book so much it will be the gift I am giving for upcoming birthdays and Christmas. That is at least five copies I will be buying.
Read an excerpt here. LEt me know if you read the book so we can chat.

I’ll check that book out, Nancy. I hate Da Vinci code but not because of the basis of the book–just because Brown is such a bad writer. I’ve often wondered what Da Vinci code would have been like in the hands of a competent writer. Maybe this book you recommend will answer my question. Thanks for the suggestion!
That sounds like a very good recommendation! I liked the story of the Da Vinci Code. And the fact that even though it was a work of fiction, it pissed a LOT of people off. I love watching people get their panties in a twist over little things!
I’m still working on my summer book! Or not working on it is more like it. I find it sooo hard to sit down and read. I bet Kathy will want to read this. A popular subject right now.
Yes, Colleen, Kathy will want to read this.
to Nancy:
Yes the church suppressed the truth about Mary Magdalene and also a lot more. References to reincarnation for example, but that is for another day (I’ll have to post on that soon).
The child(ren) of Jesus are said to be in Southern France. I’ve read a bit on the Holy Grail but it was a long while ago.
Your post has sparked my interest again. There are MANY theories.
I am dully enticed by your review!! I enjoyed Da Vinci Code so I’m sure I’ll enjoy this one.
Sounds like a really interesting book. I may have to check it out. I really liked the Da Vinci code!
I loved the DaVinci Code so I know I’ll like this one. Thanks for the recommendation!
Thank you so much for the recommendation. I was driving to work today thinking about what my next read would be. As a matter of fact, one of my students is hospitalized and I thought taking a book in to read to her every couple of days would be a good distraction. Perhaps I will pick this up on my way there today. Thank you.
I almost got this a while back (it was super discounted at B&N) but didn’t. shoot. Oh well, I have to say I’m a bit over all the holy grail fiction. I read three books about that this summer and that was a bit much. But, I’ll keep this one in mind for when I want a good adventure story.
I started the book (The Expected One) a few weeks ago, Nancy but so far I don’t like it. I’ll keep reading and hope that I get into it. So far I really can’t stand the main character ’cause she’s so full of shit.
