Thursday Thirteen: Spring Break

Thursday, April 20th 2006

1. I have taken most of the week off since the kids are out of school. When you own a business you never truly take time off. Dh has gone to work every morning to check on things.

2. My time off has been going SO FAST! UGH! I don’t want to go back to work. I would like to say we have been doing lots of wonderful things. Mostly working around the house.

3. Easter was great until my son got sick. Poor guy has been sick all week and mean mommy that I am, I am sick of it.

4. We watched History of Violence. It stars Viggo Morensten. Ya know the HOT guy from Lord of the Rings. He is better in LOTR. It has taken a few days, but I have decided I didn’t like the movie. The sex scenes were almost an X-rating. I was surprised and so was DH. And, of course, as the title says, it was very Violent.

5. We also saw Yours, Mine and OUrs. I got it for the girls. They loved it. It was boring. It was just a different version of Cheaper by the Dozen, which was much cuter.

6. I read The Traveler by John Tweleve Hawks. It was great. Maya, a Harlequin, has to protect potential Travelers, Micheal and Gabriel from the Brethen, representatives of the Vast Machine. Traveler’s travel outside their bodies to other dimensions, bringing back ideas that threaten the calm ordered society the Brethen represent. An excellant first novel. The Traveler website is very, very cool.

7. I also read The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory. This is my first book by this author. It was good. I can see why her books get good reviews. I will  read more by this author.

8. And, I am currently reading A Rose for the Crown by Anne Easter Smith. Again in England, about 100 years before the Constant Princess dealing w. the Royal Crown. This is much longer, but very, very good.

9. I have been riding my stationary bike everyday since my walking partner is in NYC this week. I must get outside today, it is going to be 60 degress and sunny.
10. We did two new poses in Yoga last night. While in Downward Facing Dog you lift one leg straight back, turn into fire hydrant, and then bring the knee forward, thru arms to the front of your body into Pigeon. AHHHH, this felt so GOOD. And a huge stretch for the hips. The second pose was going from Warrior 2 into Reverse Warrior. I am so sore today.

11. I have been working on my Science and Art of Herbology lesson. I have finished my notes for Valerian root and Hops.

12. I am going out to lunch w. Dearly Beloved today. Not sure if any kids are coming with us. I have been grumpy w. him and maybe lunch will fix this….

13. I bought fabric yesterday to make bags for my Tarot cards. Looking at all that beautiful fabric made me wish I could sew. Like make a quilt. I, so, do not need another hobby. I have tons of unfinished projects. Maybe someday I can make a quilt.

Happy Thursday!

I’m undecided on the the History of Violence myself, I mean, I think I would have liked it more if he really didn’t turn out to be a mob guy. I agree with you on the sex scenes.

I love that yoga pose! One of my favs!

My 13 is up too!

We own a business too and while it has a ton of perks, sometimes the responsibility can be draining.

Happy Spring Break!

Thanks for stopping by!

I loved HISTORY OF VIOLENCE….not the sex scenes though. I wasn’t impressed by YOURS,MINE and OURS at all.

I totally agree with you re: History of Violence. Saw it a couple of weeks ago and thought it was way melodramatic, and those sex scenes were crazy! I don’t mind a good sex scene, but they just seemed silly.

Anyway, hope lunch was great…thanks for stopping by my T-13 today, and for the encouraging words! )

I’ve heard that Pilates for dummies is also a good DVD. I’m happy for you that you’re still keeping at the exercise! Most of mine has come from working in the yard.

Days off always go by too fast - that’s a sure sign that we need more of them! )

Have a great weekend!
