Reading 411

I love to read. Actually, I am obssesed w. reading. I read 90% for pleasure and 10% for educating myself. I recently met a women who seems to feel guilty when she reads a book for pleasure. I find that so amazing. A book is the best escape mechanism there is. It is not bad for you like drugs or excessive drinking. You can read while working out. Or, you can listen to books on tape while walking and cleaning house.

I turned her on to the Outlander series and she goes on and on about it being a guilty pleasure. My question: do you read for fun or to make yourself smarter A little of both

And I want to know what your reading now. Do you like it What is on your nightstand Do you have a wishlist

I just finished Maximum Ride
by James Patterson. It is his first Young Adult Novel and it was good. He introduced these charecters in “When the Wind Blows” and/or “The Lake House” , I think. Remember the mutant bird kids This book is about them. I can’t wait for the next one.

Maxiumum Ride

I also read “Survivor in Death” by JD Robb, really Nora Roberts. I don’t read romance authors as a rule. I picked up one of the JD Robb books without realizing that Roberts was really the author. Just goes to show you cannot judge a book by it’s author. This is a good series. Set in the future. The charecters are dynamic and so not perfect. I love Dallas and Rouarke. It is fun.

Survivor in Death.

I am listening to the “Disappearance of the Universe”. Which is interesting. This is a non-pleasure book. It relies heavily on the “Course of Miracles” to get it’s point across. Basically, it is about everything being an illusion and how we can get out of the illusion and back to Source. I kind of feel lost when I listen to it and I wonder if it is because it is abridged. I got the book, but have not started it yet.

Books Free: Like Netflix, only free. Paperbacks and audiobooks delivered right to your door.

***UPDATE*** I should have looked closer. Books Free ships free and there is a monthly charge. Still a good deal, if you don’t have access to a library. Jeez, guess I better read the fine print.

I am contemplating an online book club or a place to discuss books (blog bulletin board ). Anyone insterested

Talk to me: What are you reading

I loved the Outlander series! I came to you via JennIAm - I’d love to be part of an online book club if you don’t mind a stranger in your midst.

Ugh. I’ve got to read my own novel that I wrote during Nano and edit all the mispelled words and stuff. So there’s that. Next on my nightstand is James Patterson’s The Honeymoon, or something like that.

I’m just about done with the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. These last few books… meh. Ok. Haven’t decided what to read next but I better get with it… I’ll need something new in a few days. Me… I read for pleasure. And I don’t feel one bit guilty about it. I HAVE to read each and every night before bed… or I can’t sleep.

I’ll be checking out that booksfree thing… no library close to me.

Hi, I just randomly chose one of Ellen’s court and your it! D I actually sometimes feel guilty for reading for pleasure, the only time I can enjoy it guilt free is if everything is done (how rare is that!)or in the vehicle when hubby is driving.

Right now, I have a huge assortment of library books ranging from how to make money sewing, to haircuts for dummies.

Fiction wise, I have #2 in the Beverly Lewis Abrahm’s daughters series sitting on my nightstand waiting…and waiting…

Hi - Thanks for visiting me the other day. I love “meeting” other bookworms )

I’ve heard so much about the Diana Gabaldon books. Hmm, maybe I should finally read one! Why do I read? Because I can’t imagine not reading.
