Hospital

Monday, November 21st 2005

I was in the hospital from Tuesday until Friday of last week.

On Monday, I went to the doctor. I have pain on the right side of my abdomen that is getting worse. A ultrasound was scheduled for Tuesday morning. They decided something was weird w. my appendix and it looked like Crone’s disease.

From there I went to have blood work done. In the meantime my doctor was consulting w. a gastro doc. They decided I needed a Cat Scan. I drank the gross Kool-Aid. That doctor said I had appendicitus. And, I had to get the hospital ASAP! I was able to see my kids, who freaked out, and pack a bag.

I was quite exciting for all of 20 minutes. The surgeon came down and said “I don’t think so, we are not operating. But, we need TESTS and you are staying in the hospital. I think it’s Crone’s”

After that I was ignored in the ER. I got there at 4:00 and got to my room on the Cardiac floor at 11:00 pm. They had to give me an IV, which is next to impossible for me, my veins are non-existent. I got massive doses of antibiotics and percadan for pain. I had stay up all nite drinking “Go-Lightly”. I hope you are not familar with this beverage. It cleans you out. I was up until 5:00 am.

On Weds, the gastro doc comes and sees me and tells me that I was not on the schedule for a colonoscopy, but he will move some stuff around. The results from that test are: I have a clean colon, no Crohn’’s and something is wrong w. my appendix. They had to use twice as much sedatives on me for the test, because of the pain I was already in.

On Thurs. the gastro doc comes in and says that he thinks we should skip the upper GI test and go right for surgery. He has to consult w. the surgeon. Still haven’t eaten. The surgeon wants the test. So, nothing happens on Thurs, except they move me to the general medical floor. The cardio floor was much nicer. Oh, and the vein where the IV was collasped and I needed a new IV. Do, you know how much that hurt mmmm… A LOT!

Friday, I got the upper GI done and it again showed no Crohn’s or obstructions. Just something going on w. the appendix. The vein where the current IV was, went. They couldn’t find another vein and were considering a pic line. UGH!

I was able to come home for the weekend, and am here at work doing payroll, so my people don’t quit. Tomorrow (tuesday) I go in for “exploratory surgery”.

AND THAT WAS MY WEEK.

Needless to say, the novel writing is out the window. I made it to 10,000 words.

Hope you all are healthy and have a great Thanksgiving.

Holy Crapoli! And you are working now? Did you eat a big meal?

I have the same, dumb vein thing. Only they use baby needles with me, so it takes longer but they can stick me. Same goes for IVs–I get children’s ones!

Let us know how this all pans out hon. HUGS
